Kuala Lumpur takes a significant step toward inclusive urban development with the unveiling of two major initiatives designed to uplift underprivileged communities. The city’s municipal authority, DBKL, has joined forces with Sentul Raya—a YTL Land subsidiary—to introduce Residensi Kecapi, an affordable housing project, and Bintang Cemerlang 2.0, an enhanced educational program.
The housing initiative offers 250 subsidized units priced at just RM42,000 each, well below market value, with Sentul Raya absorbing the full cost difference. Situated in the rejuvenated Sentul district, the project aligns with national efforts to provide secure, budget-friendly homes while revitalizing urban neighborhoods. Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa emphasized that such collaborations between government and private entities are crucial for fostering equitable growth.
Complementing the housing scheme, Bintang Cemerlang 2.0 expands educational opportunities for children across 23 local primary schools. An evolution of its 2008 predecessor, which benefited over 107,500 participants, the program now integrates academics, creativity, and physical activities while equipping teachers with specialized training. This dual approach—shelter and schooling—creates a sustainable framework for breaking cycles of poverty.
Dr. Zaliha praised the initiatives as a blueprint for meaningful public-private partnerships, urging more businesses to contribute to social progress. The projects underscore YTL Group’s dedication to long-term community impact, blending practical solutions with visionary urban planning. As Kuala Lumpur evolves, such efforts ensure its growth remains inclusive, leaving no one behind.
