Malaysia’s real estate sector is gearing up for its most prestigious recognition event as the PropertyGuru Asia Awards returns for its 12th edition with expanded categories and heightened anticipation. The 2025 awards, organized in collaboration with iProperty, will spotlight excellence in property development and design across the country, reinforcing its reputation as a benchmark for industry standards. With submissions now open, developers and designers are preparing to showcase their finest projects, while an independent panel of judges prepares to evaluate entries in Kuala Lumpur later this year.
This year’s awards introduce 132 categories, including nine new distinctions for ultra-luxury and mid-range landed and high-rise developments across Malaysia’s central, northern, and southern regions. Additional accolades will honor residential, commercial, and design achievements, such as Best Oceanview High-Rise Development and Best Heritage Development. The expansion follows the successful introduction of ESG-focused awards in 2024, emphasizing sustainability as a key industry priority. A 14-member expert panel, chaired by Datuk Ar. Ezumi Harzani Ismail, will oversee the rigorous judging process in July.
Public participation plays a crucial role, with the People’s Choice Awards allowing voters to weigh in on developers based on reputation, project delivery, and quality. HLB Ler Lum Chew, the official supervisor, will ensure transparency in both judging and public voting. Winners will be unveiled at an October gala in Kuala Lumpur before advancing to the regional finals in Bangkok, where they will compete against top developers from across Asia-Pacific. Last year’s Malaysian winners, including Sime Darby Property and Tropicana Corporation, set a high bar for this year’s contenders.
The awards not only celebrate innovation but also drive industry progress by encouraging sustainable and consumer-focused development. As Malaysia’s property market continues to evolve, the event serves as a platform for developers to gain international recognition while raising local standards. With entries closing in May, the countdown has begun for what promises to be a landmark year for Malaysian real estate.
