Sime Darby Property has reclaimed its position as Malaysia’s top property developer, securing the highest honor at The Edge Malaysia Top Property Developers Awards (TPDA) for the first time since 2009. The company’s achievement was celebrated at a gala event in Kuala Lumpur, where industry leaders gathered to recognize excellence in real estate development. Alongside the main award, Sime Darby also earned recognition for Best in Qualitative Attributes, highlighting its commitment to innovation and buyer value.
The competition was fierce, with Sunway Bhd and Gamuda Land sharing the second spot, followed by S P Setia Bhd in third place. Other notable developers in the Top 10 included UOA Development, IJM Land, and IOI Properties Group, showcasing the strength of Malaysia’s property sector. Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming emphasized the need for sustainable urban growth, urging developers to align with the Madani Economy Framework for inclusive development. He highlighted the government’s push for affordable housing, with 89% of its 500,000-unit target already underway. “Affordable homes should be more than just livable—they should be desirable,” Nga stated, advocating for integrated communities with access to jobs and green technology. His call for public-private partnerships underscored the collaborative effort needed to address housing challenges.
