Malaysia’s housing market is undergoing stricter enforcement as authorities crack down on non-compliant developers. The Ministry of Housing and Local Government recently barred 109 property firms from operating due to regulatory violations, signaling a tougher stance on consumer protection.
Minister Nga Kor Ming emphasized that these blacklisted developers failed to meet basic reporting requirements, including submitting financial statements and project updates. The disciplinary action prevents them from obtaining new licenses until outstanding penalties are resolved, creating stronger accountability in the sector.
Homebuyers were urged to verify developers’ credentials through the ministry’s online portal before making purchases. This precaution aims to prevent financial losses and ensure projects meet legal standards. Nga stressed that timely project completion and transparency remain key priorities for the government.
The announcement followed the minister’s address at the 14th Annual Affordable Housing Projects Conference, where he reiterated the ministry’s commitment to fair practices.
