Titijaya Land Bhd has unveiled plans to expand its property portfolio with two strategic acquisitions in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, totaling RM105 million. The move signals the developer’s confidence in the region’s growing demand for student housing and residential projects near educational hubs.
The larger acquisition, priced at RM99 million, includes a plot of land with completed foundation work and two 19-story student accommodation buildings featuring 513 units. These facilities can house over 3,000 students, aligning with Titijaya’s strategy to capitalize on the area’s increasing need for affordable housing near universities.
A second, smaller purchase involves a RM6 million plot with an abandoned structure originally meant for the Bangunan Koperasi UMS project. The stalled development, launched in 2012, was intended to include a 14-story residential tower, commercial spaces, and parking facilities. Titijaya plans to revive the project, transforming it into modern residential properties.
Both properties are strategically positioned next to Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and the soon-to-open Hospital UMS, expected to begin operations next year. The proximity to these institutions enhances the long-term viability of the developments, offering convenience for students and medical professionals alike.
