The collaboration marks the country\u2019s first implementation of the Community Renewable Energy Aggregation Mechanism (CREAM), a government-backed initiative designed to expand access to clean energy through localized solar power generation.<\/p>\n<p>Under the CREAM framework, residential rooftops in Sime Darby Property\u2019s townships will be leased to host solar panels without requiring homeowners to bear installation costs. The generated electricity will then be distributed to nearby commercial and industrial developments within a 5km radius. This model not only accelerates Malaysia\u2019s energy transition but also provides homeowners with an opportunity to contribute to sustainability without financial burden.<\/p>\n<p>Datuk Seri Azmir Merican, Sime Darby Property\u2019s Group Managing Director, emphasized the initiative\u2019s alignment with the company\u2019s decarbonization strategy and national objectives. The project supports Malaysia\u2019s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which aims for 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050. By partnering with TNB\u2019s solar subsidiary, GSPARX, the company is pioneering a scalable approach to community-driven clean energy.<\/p>\n<p>This effort builds on earlier agreements between Sime Darby Property and TNB, including a 2023 memorandum of understanding to explore sustainable infrastructure. The latest phase focuses on financing and operating solar projects across the company\u2019s property portfolio.
